In the coming month, you will be receiving a ballot for the proposed dues increases.  As I have previously mentioned in my messages and at the AGM, the Executive Committee looked very closely at the financial situation of the RCEA and determined that these increases were necessary.  We are counting on you to support the increases.  You will find the main information document posted on our website; this document will give you the forecasted budget for the next 3 years and a comparison on what our dues are with respect to other Public Service Unions.

We attended a briefing session with NRC on the parking issue on May 7. We were informed that the NRC is still waiting for the PWGSC market assessments of all NRC sites.  Once the assessments are complete and approved by the Senior Executive Committee (SEC), further consultation meetings will be scheduled.  We were also informed that the original implementation date of July 1, 2010 will most likely be delayed to early fall.  We will post further information as soon as it becomes available.

Our first annual regional institute visits will be to IOT in St. John’s, Newfoundland on May 18 and IMB in Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 20.  We will follow with IMI in Boucherville on May 26 and BRI in Montreal on May 27.  As a reminder to all members that are not from the institutes visited but are in the vicinity and would like to attend the meetings, please contact the institute representatives for information concerning the meeting time and location.  You are also welcome to contact the RCEA office if you require more information.
