On August 4th 2011, the RCEA learned of the government’s decision to create a Shared Services Agency.  We were not advised by Treasury Board, but rather by another bargaining agent.  Although IT services at NRC appears to be affected by this initiative, TB did not see fit to notify the RCEA, even though we are the certified bargaining agent for the CS group at NRC.  We believe that TB also failed to notify NRC in advance of the announcement.  At this point, we do not have any information beyond the Q’s and A’s that have already been distributed.  While we have had several conversations with NRC they too are trying to gather information about how this decision will impact NRC employees.  We plan to meet with NRC as soon as possible to discuss this further.
